The question you asked is so obvious, and has been asked, answered, explaind, documented, etc. so many times.... THE default interface to communicate with OpenERP server is XML-RPC. Everything in the server can be accessed via web services. The GTK, KDE or web client connect to the server using web services. A minimum research on the product would have led you to this "obscure knowledge".
