I run a website selling fresh food, mostly meat products like steak, and I would really like to migrate to using OpenERP for warehousing, e-commerce and ordering.
However the challenge with meat products is that they are a variable weight, and I only order from the supplier once the item is sold - I don't hold inventory. Here is an example item on my website: Beef Sirloin Steak, Large x2 (approx. 375g) £5.80 per unit £15.47/kg So a customer orders an item which costs £5.80 for exactly 375g. However my supplier may provide a steak which weighs only 360g so it actually costs £5.57 Here is how I would like OpenERP to work: - Customer places order for "approximately" 375g steak - The customer is given an "estimated" price - Customer enters credit card details, which are validated but not charged - I place the order with the supplier, and the steak arrives the next day - I weigh the steak, and modify the price (up or down) to match the steaks true weight - The customers credit card is charged with the modified price - I ship the product to the customer Question - is this possible? If not, how could I make this work? Thanks in advance, John -------------------- m2f -------------------- -- http://www.openerp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=28625#28625 -------------------- m2f --------------------
