I'm hoping someone can shed some insight...

I'm working with a contract manufacturer that handles multiple steps in 
production with the manufacturer and other contract manufacturers in between. 
We 'progress bill' for each step completed but for tracking and warranty need a 
single product/BOM to track against. With some great help here I managed to get 
end to end working (hooray!) but I have a new challenge.

The end customer can upgrade during production. Since the sales order is 
confirmed and underway, I can't make the changes there. And I'm not sure 
canceling it or the production order is the best option either. 

Has anyone dealt with this or a similar scenario? I may be missing something 
simple. Thanks!
