I have a similar issue. After some trial and error I noticed a problem with timezone settings. I created a CRM database and started filling in data using the admin user which by default has no timezone. Afterwards I created additional users with timezone Europe/Brussels. Those users could not access the data using the GTK client, but everything was ok with the web client.
I went straight into the database with pgadmin III and manually deleted the timezone settings of the additional users. At that time, the users could get access to the data.
