elle, sometimes what I do in these instances is to go get a fresh new copy of OpenERP and install it somewhere and then try to carefully follow the instructions for installing the particular module that I'm having trouble with. And usually I can get it working. Then I go back to my original installation and try to figure out what I did different there.
