I've just added a new module "account_chart_orthogonal" to the addons-community.
It's a very simple module that adds the capability to show your Chart of Accounts showing only the move related to an analytic account. The main use is to different assets among "profit centers" without having to duplicate accounts. A clearer example is when you have multiple retail stores. Each store have it's own cash, inventories, receivables, payables, depreciation, etc. Creating a company for each store, using multi_company modules might be too much of a hassle (add to the fact that multi_company is not 100% reliable) specially if you outsource your fiscal accounting. So, when you relate the accounting moves to analytic "profit center" accounts you can single them out to show you how much of that inventory/cash/receivables belongs to store A, B or C.
