Thanks to Ulrich for his positive reaction, which I quite appreciate (!) after the earlier reactions on this topic. I would personally strongly encourage people to make a little effort to report their experience with the implementation of OpenERP (problems and solutions). I am convinced that that would help many others in a similar starting position. There could even be a separate section in the forum for this, perhaps starting with an appealing message from the moderator.
By the way, I can confirm that the system in Uganda was implemented in Linux on a virtual machine.
