I'd like to dismiss that as FUD. There is nothing that would "punish" you for using v6 instead of v5. Although v6 is a major improvement, it is still based on the v5 code and is a natural evolution of that. Documentation (the developer's book, especially) of v5 mostly applies to v6, too. The code is also completely open, so you can read examples and solutions in it.
