Hello Graham, I'm in the admin group in fact, thanks. Really strange, I've made a lot of checks but it seems I can make everything in cygwin except running rpm.... Do you know if rpm tries also to modify some of the Windows standard files? I know the Administrator group I belong to has restricted access to some system files for security reason even if the window installation is local and I'm administrator on the PC. laura
