They have the ability to act upon so-called XCommands. You'll have to implement your own commands, though. There are only some fundamental commands available, such as setting the leds, start/stop measure, change measure interval etc. The PC side command app resides in contrib/xbow/beta/tools/src/xcmd. Please note that it's still beta as the path indicates.
