Yes you can connect the mica class motes to a pc without using there
programming board.  You will need to build your own level converting
board though.  Here is a link to a few and there are other companies
that make these type chips.  You'll want to do some searching if the
mote is running off 2 AA batteries for a chip that has a voltage supply
requirement of 3.3 - 1.8 volts.
