I have found, through non-extensive testing, that you can
simply name the directory tinyos-1.1.15 (or whatever number
is convenient...) and use the env vars to tell the compiler
where it is, e.g.:
TOSDIR=/cygdrive/C/cygwin/opt/tinyos-1.1.7/tos
TOSROOT=C:/cygwin/opt/tinyos-1.1.7
It's not entirely clear (I don't remember even if I tried
to figure it out) whether the cygdrive vs C:/cygwin syntaxes
are necessary, or whether TOSROOT is needed for anything.
But the above works for me, as they say...

hi all,
I was thinking of upgrading tinyos to 1.1.15 . I
plan to save the previous version of tinyos in case i
run with some problems. So does that mean i make a zip
file of just the tinyos-1.x directory which is present
under cygwin/opt/tinyos-1.x and save it ? any
suggestions ?
