Dear List,

I am currently developing a wireless data acquisition system using Crossbow’s Mica2Dot and the MIB510 base station. My goal is to increase the sampling rate to as high as possible (ideally 1000 samples/sec) but I am finding it extremely difficult due to TinyOS’ primitive scheduler. I have been experimenting with timerM.nc component and have found that even setting the interrupt rate to 64 ms causes significant jitter and a very inconsistent sampling rate. I can only assume that this is due to the scheduler being overloaded with tasks from both the ADC and the radio and as such causing random delays.

If anyone has any suggestions on what exactly may be restricting the sampling rate and how I can go about improving it (possibly reducing the processor’s overhead, simplifying networking protocols?), I would be very much appreciative.

Kind regards,

Andrew M
