The last three bytes are sent as padding but ignored.
You _could_ reduce the DATA_LENGTH to match but it would
make slightly less than 10% difference in message time.
As to why 29 I think there is some historical reason,
but the length can be changed up to about 100 if you
don't mind loosing more messages to bit errors.
