Use the tinyos-devel branch in CVS for TinyOS-2.x.  Also, TinyOS 2.0 has been released today (see tinyos.net)

This release has two new LPL stacks:   cc2420_lpl, and cc1000_lpl.  These are not the default stacks because they're new and haven't been fully tested.  The CC2420 LPL stack is obviously new, but the CC1000 stack uses a different strategy for delivery than the original:  The transmitter sends out many smaller packets as opposed to one large-preamble packet.  Using acknowledgements, the transmission can be stopped early when the receiver kicks on and receives one of the packets, saving energy and increasing throughput.

Aside from selecting the correct radio stack directory at compile time (i.e. you can edit your tos/platforms/xyz/.platform file and include the correct radio stack directory), you'll need to define the preprocessor variable LOW_POWER_LISTENING to include the extra CC2420 LPL functionality.  This allows applications that don't require LPL to leave out the extra overhead.

Subject: [Tinyos-help] TinyOS 2.0 (T2)

I've already upgraded to tinyOS 2.x. If I want the latest release do I just need to install the TOS source tree? Also I was told that this release would have LPL (Low Power Listening), is this true?

Thanks,
   I
