Any defined frequency will work. So long as all motes use the same frequency. See: http://tinyoscommunity.elwiki.com/Frequencies_Available It is a 2420/ZigBee radio at the bottom. Since it overlaps with 802.11 radios, some frequencies may be clearer then others if you have wireless networking.
