Anyway you should consider studying LQI too if you want to predict distance

I'm working on localisation in WSN, and my master thesis talked about it
(but it's written in french)

You could take a look on the page of our lab (there is some nesC code
available and some datasets) : http://www.ulb.ac.be/di/labo/

If you are interested in LQI/RSSI comparisons in interieur environnements I
can send you a paper we wrote about this (in english) and my master thesis
(in french)

Btw we are using MoteIV tmote modules which use CC2420 radios
