Dear researchers in the area of Wireless Sensor Networks,

there is a multitude of simulation tools for WSNs around in the WWW. For
beginners in the area, the multitude of tools might be very confusing, as
there is no extensive comparison of the tools available.

Within the EU project CRUISE a comparison table of simulation tools for
Wireless Sensor Networks has been created. CRUISE is a Network of
Excellence (NoE) focusing on on the Application and Communication aspects
of Wireless Sensor Networking with 32 partners. The comparison table is
located at

http://www.ist-cruise.eu/cruise/Public%20documents/wp123-wsn-simulation-tool-knowledgebase/

and already contains information on the following tools:
TOSSIM, ns-2, GloMoSim (Qualnet), OMNeT++ (Omnest), OPNET, Avrora, ATEMU,
EmStar, SENS, J-Sim(JavaSim), ModelNet/NISTNet, NESLSim, WiSeNet,
JiST/SWANS, SwarmNet/Shawn, AlgoSenSim, Netwiser, DiSenS, SENSE, COOJA,
JProwler, Viptos, Sunflower, WISENES, SenSor and GTSNetS.

The tools are compared by the following criterias:
Version, Extensions, Simulator/Emulator, Transferability of Code, License,
Cost, Architecture, Platform, Status, Programming language of the tool,
Programming language of the models, GUI, API, Scenario description format,
Parallel execution, Models (Radio propagation, Physical layer and antenna,
Mobility, Standards), and Statistical support.

Addional pages are giving links to websites, downloads, instructions,
tutorials, sample scenarios, and publications.

However, we would like you to help us improving the information by
sending:
* additional WSN simulation tools you know of
* updates
* corrections
* additions
* experiences.

We hope this will help in particular starters in the area of simulation of
WSN, to get a faster start and more comparable results.

CRUISE is a Network of Excellence (NoE) focusing on on the Application and
Communication aspects of Wireless Sensor Networking with 32 partners.
This overview is intended to be maintained beyond the runtime of the NoE.

Best regards,
Markus Becker
