In theory, it should handle tree root changes and topology changes fine. We've certainly tested the latter in testbeds, and I've tested the former in simulation.

What if the radio signal strengths are so large they all overlap eachother? That could make for bad initial cost calculations...maybe even oscillations of "lowest cost route" chosen.

I don't understand. How would a dense network lead to oscillations? Or are you assuming RF interference causing signal strength to vary wildly? CTP does not use signal strength.
