Modify the TX_MODE setting in the MDMCTRL1 register to enable the infinite retransmissions test mode. This will continuously retransmit the contents of the TXFIFO.

I have never done it, but I think, to do that you will have to put the CC2420 chip in debug mode. This is not support by tinyOS AFAIK, but I might be wrong. Because this is not useful for tinyOS, we just want to transmit packets. You should start reading the datasheet of the radio chip, and see if sending tone is possible. I think you will have to write your own driver for that..
