We have updated versions of avr-gcc that will become the official
versions once TinyOS 2.1 is released this summer.  If you want to
build them yourself for now, take a look at the tarball found here
(warning, the script included in the tarball was only written to work
on my machine and should not be used as general purpose.  Use at your
own risk).
