Hi Nicola, Every time cygwin is installed,it will create or change the corresponding "registor" of Windows. Use the command 'regedit' in Start->Run and see the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions You can see what the '/' point to,as well as '/usr/bin','/usr/lib'.I think they both point to wrong place. This is my version of the key. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\mounts v2] "cygdrive prefix"="/cygdrive" "cygdrive flags"=dword:00000022 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\mounts v2\/] "native"="C:\\tinyos" "flags"=dword:0000000a [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\mounts v2\/usr/bin] "native"="C:\\tinyos/bin" "flags"=dword:0000000a [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\mounts v2\/usr/lib] "native"="C:\\tinyos/lib" "flags"=dword:0000000a [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\Program Options]

Just wanted to have a look at Crossbows Moteworks Application and installed it (explicitly with a independent Cygwin installation). After having removed it again my old Cygwin installation seems to be changed. When I start the bash it does not log in with my username. Any tips what could have been changed by Moteworks/Moteview? This is what I get to see when I start Cygwin: bash.exe: warning: could not find /tmp, please create! bash-2.05b$ Thanks in advance for your help, Nicola
