Hi Carlos, I use AVR-JTAG from Olimex for programming my motes. It works perfectly fine with me. It debugs the code as well using avr-insight. My bet would be to buy one of these as its 1/10th the price of the original Atmel mkII.
The command I use for programming the motes is: avarice --erase --program --verify --file /opt/tinyos-2.x/apps/Blink/build/micaz/main.exe --jtag /dev/ttyS0 For debugging you can go through this manual, its really helpful: http://winavr.sourceforge.net/AVR-GDB_and_AVaRICE_Guide.pdf I use T-2.0.2 under Cygwin and Linux (CentOS). I have no idea of USB boards. So several alternatives have been taking into account (AVRJTAGICE, mkII and clone versions of them). As far as we know, AVRJTAGICE seems to be uncontinued and the only official alternative from Atmel is mkII. But we have also looked towards clone solutions of JTAGICE such as RS232 AVR-JTAG or USB AVR-JTAG both from Olimex or JTAGcable from Propox. Has anyone had problems with this JTAGs? Do exist anykind of problems for debugging in T1 or T2 with this boards? Do USB boards work well? Regards, Carlos
