Hi Mark, You could use one of these http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8942 interfaced to the timer capture unit of the MSP430. By counting pulses from the anemometer, it should be fairly easy to get the wind speed. To get wind direction, you could use one of the free ADC channels.
