This really depends on what sensor board you are using. I don't know of any motes that provide hardware support for cutting power to the sensor board connector. There's usually a GPIO wired to your sensor board that turns each sensor (or the whole board) on and off. The person who made the sensor board probably also made a schematic (or parts of one) available. That should tell you all you need to know.
