Hi Martin,

What you propose cannot be done. Unlike the serial port USB is a 
host/client system, where one device needs to play the host. And 
typically, neither the MIB520 nor any standard USB-serial converter can 
do that. If I remember correctly, there are (were) serial-USB converters 
that would do what you wanted to do, but they would very likely require 
USB support in the kernel.

Why don't you use an MIB510 instead?

Why can't you upgrade the Linux kernel?
