I never had a chance to work with 1.1.6. :-( In order to maximize the
chances of success you should probably use a toolchain and a nesc
contemporary to 1.1.6. I'm don't which one are though. :-(

You can get it using git with the following commands:
git clone git://hinrg.cs.jhu.edu/git/tinyos-1.x.git
git checkout -b tos-1-1-6-candidate origin/tos-1-1-6-candidate
I managed to forget a step. The full sequence is this:
git clone git://hinrg.cs.jhu.edu/git/tinyos-1.x.git
cd tinyos-1.x
git checkout -b tos-1-1-6-candidate origin/tos-1-1-6-candidate
Note: the result between the git, cvs and the tar.gz will the same. They
contain the same files so if one doesn't work then none of them will.

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:[email protected]:/cvsroot/tinyos
co -r tos-1-1-6-candidate -P tinyos-1.x

Was there a 1.1.16? The latest I know is the tos-1-1-15Dec2005cvs-release
tag.
