Hi David,

Just to add my experience to all the answers you got so far. I work with 
both MicaZ and TelosB motes. I find that programming the TelosB over USB 
is much easier as it avoids all the problems with having to properly 
plug the MicaZs into the programming board (is sometimes quite tricky). 
In addition, since every node is equipped with a USB connector, it is 
much easier to connect many nodes to a PC. Also, the motes can be 
uniquely identified by their USB ID, which makes it possible to automate 
the flashing process and to even individualize this automatic flashing 
process for specific motes.

On the other hand, there seem to be more sensor boards available for the 
MicaZ.
