Hi,

I'm beginer too, I use Xubuntu Hardy and Ubuntu Ibex, all works well, I just
had to add (for the Hardy version)

export CFLAGS="-I/usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.2/include -I/usr/include"
>
> /usr/bin/make micaz sim
>
> unset CFLAGS

to compile a TOSSIM simulation (I had not to do that on Intrepid Ibex)

I use telosb mote with MSP430 and CC2420 hardware and it works well.

To download apps, I didn't do the tutorial, but I think you shoul take a
look to Deluge (http://docs.tinyos.net/index.php/Deluge_T2).
