Subject: HMC1002 magnetic sensor question
Date: Thu, 7 May 2009 20:03:03 +0300
Dear Alec Woo
We are a research group in Middle East Technical University, Turkey, working on
a WSN project. In our project, at some point, we'll use the magnetic sensor
data taken from a remote node.
Our setup includes MPR2400CA (MicaZ) nodes and MTS310 Sensor Boards. The brand
of the magnetic sensors on the sensor boards is Honeywell HMC1002.
Our current aim is to observe the sensor data taken from a remote node. We are
planning to use TinyOS 2.1.0 Oscilloscope application as it provides a java
application for displaying the data on the screen. We go over the TinyOS 1.x
code written by you for testing the sensor board which have the same brand
magnetic sensor as ours on it.
(http://www.tinyos.net/tinyos-1.x/apps/MicaSBVerify/MicaSBTest1/) Actually we
had some difficulties on understanding the data reading process from the
magnetic sensor. (Especially the adjustment and offsetting operations on the
data as in the FILTER_DATA function)
So our question is the following. Could you please give some hints and
explanations
1- about the magnetic data reading process?
2- about how to use oscilloscope application for our forenamed objective?
Could you please send us TinyOS 2.x code for magnetic sensor reading if you
have any?
We would appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance.
