Well it would be nice if we'd ported Safe TinyOS to IRIS. We may have a patch sitting around somewhere for this, but even if we do it's not well tested.
Actually, I expect it would be easy to run the user code in safe mode, but run the rf230 stack etc. as unsafe code. The bugs are almost certainly in the user code! I'm leaving town today and can't try this but maybe someone else can.
