I would try CentOS, but I did not ever use TinyOS 1.x: http://centos.org/ Or as it was already suggested, use TinyOS 2.x. There are already cross compile toolchains available for msp430 and avr on Fedora and I can provide you with WIP SPECS for nesc and tinyos-tools.
