In addition, the maximum message payload size (which determines the size
of a message_t) is set at compile time by defining TOSH_DATA_LENGTH. The
default is 29 bytes.

The radio used on the telosb is limited to total byte count of 128
bytes.

 

The length field in an Active Message message is 8 bits so is limited to
256 bytes.

 

There are other limitations in the system due to available memory and
other things but I haven't quantified them.

 

TinyOS uses a static allocation scheme for most things.  Dynamic
allocation is available but isn't used as much because it opens

the door to wild pointers and such.

 

The best thing to do is to try out what you need and see if it works.
