Hi Daniela, You need additional set/reset circuitry. Please look at figure 20 in the datasheet. (Two-axis Sensor with Set/Reset Circuit and Digital Interface)
Also there is no additional circuitry in the MTS310 sensor board. Hence, you need to perform magnetometer calibration via software.
