His question is very confused. He uses spectrum analyzer in the same sentence as protocol analysis which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Very different levels of the stack.
So it is hard to determine what he is really asking. As far as sniffing wireless packets, usb sniffing is a pain. The easiest thing is to sniff on the serial side from a "base station" that is eavesdropping and then feed those packets into wireshark. I believe some folks have done this.
