Dear members of the TinyOS community,

as one of the first steps in the implementation of the announced changes to
the TinyOS development and contribution model, we would like to inform you
that starting from *January 1st, 2013*, the *existing SVN tinyos-main
repository on Google Code at https://code.google.com/p/tinyos-main/ will be
frozen and depreciated*, and future development will continue* *on* GitHub
at https://github.com/tinyos*.

The development is organized in two main repositories:

   1. *tinyos-main* at https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-main, as main
   development repository
   2. *tinyos-release* at https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-release, as main
   release repository

Short overview of the roles of each repository can be found in the
README.md files at the above links. More detailed instructions can be found
in the following documentation files:

   1. doc/00a_Getting_Started: Overview of getting started using git,
   github.
   2. doc/00b_Using_the_Repo: Using and contributing back to the central
   Repository.

In the transition period until January 1st, these files can be found in
the "transition" branch:

   1.
   https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-main/blob/transition/doc/00a_Getting_Started
   2.
   https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-main/blob/transition/doc/00b_Using_the_Repo

In addition to the repository, starting from *January 1st, 2013*, the
*tinyos-main
issue tracker at Google Code (
https://code.google.com/p/tinyos-main/issues/list) will be frozen and
depreciated*. The issues have been migrated to the GitHub issue tracker,
and can be accessed at https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-main/issues.

Once complete, the initial list of the lead developers with push rights to
the tinyos-main repository will be listed in the
doc/policy/lead_developers.txt file (
https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-main/blob/transition/doc/policy/lead_developers.txt<https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-main/blob/transition/doc/policy/owners.txt>)
and also on a dedicated wiki page at
https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-main/wiki/Lead-Developers.

If you have any questions or suggestions about the transition to GitHub, or
you need support with setting-up and using the repositories, please drop a
mail on the tinyos-devel list or contact Eric ([email protected]) who was
responsible for setting the new infrastructure on GitHub.

Happy Holidays!

-- Vlado, Miklos, Eric and Om (on behalf of the lead developers team)
