I think at 500 or 1000 ms, you've gone past the optimal point - CTP nodes have to send regular beacons, and with such long preambles that will require a lot of energy from both the sender and the receivers. Try 50-100 ms as a ball park figure. For a more accurate calculation, do what we did and put the required TX/RX current into a spreadsheet and work out the optimal interval given the number of nodes and expected transmit rate.
