The ground absorbs RF energy rather than reflecting it, thus the RSSI
(signal strength) is lower. Physics are not your friend in this case.

Hi all,

Why am I getting larger RSSI when I place tmote sensors roughly 40 cm
above ground than I am getting on the ground?

The difference in RSSI is about 10 dBm (depend on tmote's
orientation). Is there a proportionality of RSSI with height?

Thanks
Andy
