Hi Martin: This is the correct solution. A patch for this issue will be propogated into the kernel mainstream when we start integrating all the TIPC 1.7 changes, which will hopefully be starting in the next few weeks. If you can't wait until then, feel free to go ahead and submit a patch yourself.
