Cynthia,

I took the new, computerized GRE (general test) about 18 months ago. It is
much shorter than the written version and takes less than half a day. This
shortened version is accomplished by assessing each answer on-line to
determine the appropriate difficulty level for the next question. Each
subtest (verbal, quantitative, and analytical) is timed independently. I
found the computerized test a bit intimidating, since I was unable to skip
the more difficult questions and return to them later. In my opinion, the
computerized version requires a bit more practice than the written version
did. The great advantage of the computerized version is that it can be
scheduled at any Sylvan Learning Center to fit your schedule.

There is not a written component to the general test, but there is a written
exam that some schools are requiring. I have not taken the written or the
psychology exams.

Hope this helps.
