Good morning all:

There appears to be a move afoot to hire more and more adjunct faculty in Mississippi's junior colleges, colleges and universities. >From a cost standpoint, obviously administrations save money on perks such as health
insurance, retirement, etc.

In support of this trend, the president residing over junior colleges informed our legislature's appropriations committee that there is no evidence in the literature suggesting that adjunct faculty are any less competent and successful than full time instructors, and this is why I'm
writing to all of you. Does anyone out there in Tipsterville know of any research comparing the teaching competence, success, etc., of adjunct to
full time faculty? If so, please forward references to me.

Thanks in advance,

Jean Edwards
