Johnna and Payam- (and I suppose everyone else)- First of all, I apologize for not noticing that the reply to all was in place as I was distracted- (no excuse really- I've just not responded much to the list since the changes took place!). I meant for the post to Payam to go back channel- I want very much to maintain the openness of discussion here as well and did not mean for Payam to cease the discussion. Suffice it to say I know for a fact that statements made on listserves do come back to have effects on our evaluations. My statements to Payam were to "stop for a few moments and reflect" not to cease speaking. If censorship were my point, I'd tell myself exactly what I tell anyone who promotes censorship- If I don't want to follow a thread I'd just filter the subject line- I'd never promote the idea of silencing communication. But I need to be more careful and I apologise to Payam for the public nature of the communication and to Johnna and anyone else who was offended by my comments. Tim
