Tipsters, I often use an illusion in Gen Psych to illustrate
persistence of vision. You can take two coins and with your index
fingers rub them together up and down. A third coin will appear between
them. It always appears below the other two moving coins. It is a fun
illusion and often generates some discussion about the persistence of
retinal images. However, I actually had a student express more serious
interest in this particular effect and we are now wondering if we can
find a source to locate it. Are there any S&P folks out there who know
if research has been done on the "ghost coin" and if it has a more
proper? name? Thanks, Gary Peterson
