Thank you. That's nice. You have a reputation for being a nice guy and this comment reinforced that. BTW, that WAS pretty good research on your part. > As for your personal message to me: You raised some concerns that I > want to address very carefully and honestly, after a little time for > reflection. Okay. I believe that strong beliefs must be kept in check, to some extent, and so at times I am rather open about mine, particularly with those who may believe differently, as a way of finding the appropriate course of action in each situation. Seems to me that if you believe something strongly, instead of keeping it to yourself try to find ways of dealing with it, discussing it. I don't know -- sometimes I'm not sure when to be quiet and when to discuss something of a religious nature. I don't mean any offense. Some religious types probably keep their mouths shut -- to prevent offense -- but I tend to go the other way. I let my tongue hang out so you can see what's behind it, because I want to be honest and avoid problems where strong beliefs can be problematic. As you can see, there are occasions where I may cross the line unintentionally. Instead of telling people how I think, it comes off more as telling people how THEY should think. In this setting (i.e., tipsters) that may be less injurious, but to clients, students, it can be very damaging. > And, as for whether I like you, I hardly know you--there is no > like/dislike involved. Whether I liked you or not, I would have the > same reactions to some of your posts. True. I keep yelling "personal foul" and yet I seem to be the only person on the list who commits one! As I said before, I think it's fair to ask "How are you keeping your values and beliefs from harming others in a helping, teaching, etc. endeavor?" I'd hope people would assume I can just as capable of doing that as anyone else with strong values and beliefs about anything. > That impersonal evaluation of > someone's writings might seem odd, but is consistent with the biblical > admonition you cited the other day. Uh...I'm not understanding this part. So what else is new? Thanks again.
