Tipsters: our university has an excellent program about which you might be able to spread the word. We have a "John S. and James L. Knight Minority Teaching Fellowship" open for next academic year in any field related to the liberal arts and sciences. The person must be an ethnic minority, preferably African American. He/she must be ABD by Sept. 1 and will be responsible for teaching 2 courses for each of 2 semesters next year. The person will receive $25,000 salary, housing, utilities, benefits, travel ($2,000 related to finishing the dissertation), and research monies. There are also funds available for the person to bring speakers to campus. Computers and teaching materials are also supplied. It's an excellent opportunity designed to inspire minority candidates to teach in the liberal arts environment. Please pass the word around and let me know if you have any one who would be interested. Applicants should send a letter of interest and a standard academic dossier to: James G. Moseley, Vice President and Dean of the College, Transylvania University, 300 North Broadway, Lexington, KY 40508-1797. There is an ad in the November Monitor and I can answer any questions about the university or location.
