In an earlier message, John Nichols warned against using the
"unsubscribe" function in a spam. I have found this to be a
common warning in the anti-spam literature. The consensus is
that spammers use these replies to confirm that the mail account
is actively in use.

Now I realize that my earlier attempt to be a good netizen by
using the list-removal link had the opposite effect in all
liklihood.
