OK - I'll bite. Depends on what one means by "know." The Greeks had
several words, we use only one to cover different things. For instance -

Names:

1. Who founded psychology? Choices: Wundt, Erikson, Piaget, Harlow.

2. Who founded psychology? Choices: Helmholtz, Fechner, Wundt, James.

3. Who founded psychology? (fill in the blank) ________

4. Essay: Choose one of the following figures: Helmholtz, Fechner, Wundt,
James. Select the one you believe deserves credit as founder of modern
academic psychology. Defend your choice.

Dates?

1. In what year did Wundt found psychology? Choices: 1609, 1781, 1879, 1951

2. In what year is Wundt credited with founding psychology? Choices: 1860,
1865, 1875, 1879
      (not random dates btw)

3. In what year did Wundt found psychology? (fill in the blank) ________

4. Essay: Descartes, Fechner, and Wundt. Explain who influenced who in the
development of psychology (this demands you know - at least roughly - the
dates of each).

Sometimes I will give a class examples of questions I have asked before. This
satisfies some students. It does not satisfy (or enlightens) all.
