There are two jobs available for next September at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada. One is a three year contract and the other is a sabbatical replacement--areas are more-or-less wide open. However, the Psychology department here will be turning over soon because of retirements and there is a good chance of one or more tenure-track jobs in the near future.
Grenfell College is part of Memorial University of Newfoundland and has 11 undergraduate degree programmes including psychology (general and honours). The College has approximately 1200 students who are taught in small classes (intro psych. = ca 75, senior course = 15 - 35). Corner Brook is a small city of 25,000 on Newfoundland's west coast and offers many urban benefits (modern hospital, shops, theatre, galleries), recreational facilities (a world class ski hill 10 minutes away, the usual rinks and gyms), and is located in a region of great natural beauty. The city is very safe with an extremely low rate of crime. We have had very few applications for these positions and this is an informal attempt to encourage some. These jobs will be of interest particularly to young psychologists who would find congenial a position where they can immediately participate fully in the direction of a psychology programme and the future of a small, energetic university college. I would be glad to answer questions about these positions: email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] The formal job ad can be found at: http://www.swgc.mun.ca Look under "Information for prospective faculty" on the main page. Canadian immigration regulations require that we give preference to qualified Canadians. Given, however, the small number of applications we have had so far, it might be worthwhile for non-Canadians to apply.
