Position Announcement
ST. BONAVENTURE UNIVERSITY. The Department of Psychology invites applicants for a
newly approved tenure-track assistant professor position, beginning August, 2002.
Applicants should have completed their doctorate or expect completion by August, 2002.
Candidates are sought who are committed to teaching in a liberal arts and sciences
environment and to developing a research program that involves students in behavioral
research, and who will contribute to our strong record of achievement in student
research and in placement of our students in graduate programs. Candidates should
have demonstrated teaching and research expertise in one of the following areas:
learning, memory, and cognition; sensation and perception; statistics and
psychological assessment. In addition, the candidate should be able to offer
specialized courses, and perhaps conduct research, that will expand our offerings into
new and contemporary areas, such as health psychology and behavioral medicine,
forensic psychology, environmental psychology. Interest in teaching an
interdisciplinary course in either the social or natural sciences would be welcome.
The department has approximately 150 undergraduate majors and an active faculty,
dedicated to psychology as behavioral science. St. Bonaventure University is a
private institution with 2500 undergraduate and graduate students, located in the
foothills of the Allegheny Mountains along the southern tier of western New York
State, 70 miles south of Buffalo. The University is committed to diversifying its
