For reasons best known to it, USA Public TV is running yet
another programme on teen-age angst and the brain (they just did
the same topic on their brain series on Tuesday, right after
waiting for Dubya to stop talking). This time it's on the
acclaimed investigative journalism programme "Frontline". I'm
certain it's a different programme despite the coincidence, so if
you just thought it was a repeat, think again.

Here's the listing:

9:00 pm Thursday, January 31 "Frontline": Inside The Teenage
Brain

It's the mystery of mysteries -- especially to parents. Now the
experts are exploring the recesses of the brain and finding
explanations for why adolescents behave the way they do and how
the new discoveries can change the way we teach, or perhaps even
understand, our teenagers. Closed Captioned. In Stereo.

and the NY Times has a piece on it at:

(I'm positive there was no belching in the Tuesday night one!)

Also, for those who've been tuning in to the Tuesday night series
on the brain, here's my impression of it. The case histories are
great (hemispherectomized child, cataract surgery in the newborn,
teen-ager talking about his schizophrenia), but I quickly grew
tired of the repetitive graphics (how many times do we need to
see a flashing neuron network?), and the remainder consisted of
platitudes and unsupported vague generalities. Keep the cases,
dump the rest, I say!
